Tommy Chong
(2006)
It should have been called Farenheit 420, AkA is the best Documentary
to ever come out!! Revealing who the person is behind the huge
cloud of white smoke and bushy beard. AkA Tommy Chong should
be seen by all, who appreciate CHONG and what his "Cheech
& Chong" legacy stand for, if you have not seen it,
your missing out on another piece of there vintage collection.
AkA Tommy Chong will go down in history as the voice of all
stoner's, that say screw the politics this should be legal!
God grows this stuff, the fact that medical patients who are
dying find some relief, and can still be charged as a criminals
is stupid. Tommy's character is the Hemp Messiah, Pope of Pot,
he stands for an entire culture, Hollywood and all those exec's
under-estimate his popularity, I remember when he was the biggest
star on That 70's Show, and when they had to keep his lines
short in front of the studio audience, to sustain the chanting
Chong-Heads in the audience. Look Out World here comes not just
a movie, but a movement.

Garfield:
A Tail of Two Kitties
(2006)

reign is in jeopardy. The nefarious Lord Dargis is determined
to do away with Garfield, so he can turn the castle into a resort.
Garfield's bigger, better, more purr-fect world is soon turned
upside down in this tale of two kitties.

Under
(2006)
Peter, a psychotherapist, and Suzanne, a professional dominatrix,
have been meeting once a week for more than two years. In the

pierces, prods and ultimately soothes Peter as they engage in
sensual dominance and submission reenactments. Peter's wife
Pat knows about her husband's other life, but there is an understanding
between them; what happens in the dungeon is relegated to the
world of fantasy. Then, Peter and Suzanne, undeniably drawn
to each other, agree to see each other on the outside. Though
Suzanne is clearly ambivalent about any sort of physical intimacy,
Peter becomes increasingly obsessed with consummating their
relationship. The more Suzanne pulls away, the harder Peter
finds it to let go. As they meet in coffee shops, bars and restaurants
throughout New York City, Peter remembers the erotic "scenes"
between them and the relationship these fantasies have to his
past. |

The
Heart of the Game
(2006)
When Seattle filmmaker Ward Serrill met Bill Resler, a college
tax professor who moonlights as a girls' basketball coach, he
didn't realize that he was about to embark on an incredible
seven-year journey. Serrill, camera in hand, followed Resler
-- who looks more like Santa Claus in Birkenstocks than a whistle-blasting
high school coach -- into the Roosevelt High School gym and
soon discovered a group of girls whose unbridled toughness,
passion and energy he came to call "The Heart of the Game."
Then, one day, onto the Roughriders' court (and into the film)
walked Darnellia Russell -- a tough, inner-city girl whose off-court
struggles would eventually threaten to crash the star athlete's
plans to play college ball and be the first person in her family

of the Game" is Darnellia's unforgettable true story --
the loss of her eligibility and her legal battle to get back
on court to play the game that means everything to her. With
Coach Resler, her team and her family standing by her side,
she takes on enormous personal obstacles as well as the ruling
body of high school sports in Washington State.

The
Outsider
(2006)
The Outsider gives a very inside look at what it means to be
a filmmaker. Jarecki follows legendary writer/director James
Toback (The Gambler, Two Girls and a Guy, Bugsy) through the

Neve Campbell. The documentary chronicles all phases of Toback's
wild filmmaking journey as he shoots his movie in 12 days without
a script and battles to get it distributed. Candid interviews
with Woody Allen, Robert Downey, Jr., Mike Tyson, Harvey Keitel,
Norman Mailer, Brooke Shields, Barry Levinson and more reveal
the complex life and work of this compulsive gambler and exceptional
film talent.

A
Prairie Home Companion
(2006)
Robert Altman and writer Garrison Keillor join forces with an
all-star cast to create a comic backstage fable, "A Prairie
Home Companion," about a fictitious radio variety show
that has managed to survive in the age of television. On a rainy
Saturday night in St. Paul, Minn., fans file into the Fitzgerald
Theater to see "A Prairie Home Companion," a staple
of radio station WLT, not knowing that WLT has been sold to
a Texas conglomerate and that tonight's show will be the last.
Shot entirely in the Fitzgerald, except for the opening and
closing scenes which take place in a nearby diner, the picture
combines Altman's cinematic style and intelligence and love
of improvisation and Keillor's songs and storytelling to create
a fictional counterpart to the actual "A Prairie Home Companion"
radio show, which has heard on public radio stations coast to
coast for the past quarter-century (and which, in real life,
continues to broadcast). The result is a compact tale with a
series of extraordinary acting turns.

Psychopathia
Sexualis
(2006)
I expected mere titillation for the sake of exploitation ...which
is fine, and partly I guess why Krafft-Ebing challenges his
readers to understand... he coined the term "masochism"
and explained how exploitation, or being exploited satisfies
one's desires, however desires and their abstractions---not
just coitus for procreation---but those odd fetishes; weird
and wonderful things that humans want with touch, taste and
the associations with their ejaculations, is what Krafft-Ebing
explored. In Krafft-Ebing's time the patriarchal model of thinking
dominated every-body's behaviors, and the idea that Men and
that Women have different needs was completely new territory.
Krafft-Ebing sought to understand these things and so should
you. |

Everyone can relate to heartbreak and thinking about what could

did for SJK. The music was written by Mr. Mallorca and the theme

The
Omen (2006)
The prophecy from the Book of Revelation provides a map to a
terrifying future. The passage specifically points to the arrival
of the Anti-Christ and the beginning of Armageddon. Robert Thorn,
a senior American diplomat, has other things on his mind. His
wife, Katherine, who had suffered two previous miscarriages,
has endured yet another unsuccessful delivery, but she's unaware
their newborn child has died. The hospital priest, Father Spiletto,
presents Thorn with another child born that night, whose mother
died in childbirth. The priest compels Thorn to take the infant
boy as his own. Katherine will never know the truth. Katherine
embraces the child as her own, blossoming in motherhood. Thorn's
career ascends. He becomes the U.S. ambassador to Great Britain,
and the family settles into an estate outside London. But certain
disturbing events seem to revolve around the now five-year-old
Damien. The boy's nanny hangs herself at his birthday party;
a strange priest brings dire warnings to Thorn; a children's
trip to the zoo results in a panicked frenzy; Damien becomes
hysterical during a drive to church; and blurred movements in
a series of photographs portend shocking deaths. Then tragedy
strikes closer to home. It's apparent that Damien is the long-prophesized
Anti-Christ. Now, Thorn must make the ultimate sacrifice to
prevent the unspeakable terror that awaits the world.

The story, based on a book by Dan Millman, follows a college
gymnast who has great potential but whose desire for success
is one of the main obstacles standing in the way of that potential.
In his mindless pursuit of a goal, he becomes sucked into the
deep dark hole of life-is-what-happens-while-you're-making-other-plans.
In its simplest message, our hero's real challenge is to find
happiness by being present and finding interest and love for
what's right in front of him. For many years I have been convinced
that non-religious spiritual thought and experience could be
something to drive the world in a new direction. This movie
provides an example of what life can be like if we ponder these
thoughts and implement them in our lives in a concrete and practical
way. It's not necessary to be a champion gymnast to derive the
fundamental teachings from this film. It is a teaching that
anyone can understand. This is why I see that The Peaceful Warrior
can inspire those who embrace the possibilities which it offers
to become peaceful guerrilla warriors, working tirelessly underneath
the radar, changing the world.

Slavoj
Zizek: The Reality of the Virtual
Zizek argues that, in their exclusive focus on the prevention
of suffering, the doctrine of human rights evacuates politics
and retreats back to the terrain of good and evil. By denying
the political subjectivity of its victims, he continues, the
enforcement of human rights through military and political intervention
only serves to preserve those victims as victims, and prepare
the way for continued violations of human rights.

The
Cult of the Suicide Bomber
(2006)
Former CIA agent Robert Baer returns to the Middle East with
director Kevin Toolis to explore the history, politics and psychology
behind the development of suicide warfare. Beginning with the
story of the world's first suicide bomber, 13-year-old Iranian
Hossein Fahmideh, Baer tracks the origins of this pathological
social virus; its historic antecedents, its new traditions,
and the quasi-religious cult that now surrounds this once unthinkable
act. From the gaudy graveyard of martyrs just outside Tehran
to the shrine-like living rooms of the bombers' proud families,
Baer takes us inside a world where violence has becomes a sacred
tradition and an integral part of the political landscape. Throughout
the exploration of this disturbing new trend in conflict, Baer
reaches one inescapable conclusion: that expanded, intensive
human intelligence is the only defense against the virulent
new form of warfare.

The
War Tapes (2006)
Uses footage shot by three members of the National Guard deployed
in Iraq. Sergeant Steve Pink is a wisecracking carpenter who
aspires to be a writer. Sergeant Zack Bazzi is a Lebanese-American
college student who loves to travel and is fluent in Arabic.
Specialist Mike Moriarty is a father who seeks honor and redemption.
Part journal, part jokebook, part witness, the film offers a
view of war rarely seen from the inside out. We learn what the
soldiers are thinking every step of the way, from their views
on the media's coverage of Operation Iraqi Freedom to how they
miss loved ones back home.

A Headbanger's Journey
(2005)
Sam Dunn is a 30-year-old anthropologist.
He's also a lifelong metal fan. After years of studying diverse
cultures, Sam turns his academic eye a little closer to home and
embarks on an epic journey into the heart of heavy metal. His mission:
to figure out why metal music is consistently stereotyped, dismissed
and condemned, even while the tribe that loves it stubbornly holds
its ground -- spreading the word, keeping the faith and adopting
styles and attitudes that go way beyond the music. Sam visits heavy
metal landmarks as far flung as L.A.'s Sunset Strip, the dirty streets
of Birmingham and the dark forests of Norway. Along the way, the
two sides of Sam Dunn -- curious anthropologist and rabid fan --
collide, as Sam explores metal's obsession with sex, religion, violence
and death, meets his heroes, and discovers some things about the
culture that even he can't defend. |

(Four)
(2005)
Four episodes depict life in Moscow and in the country. The opening
of the film sets the whole atmosphere, introducing three characters
who happen to meet in an anonymous bar. In the long bar scene, we
learn from their conversations both the intriguing and banal details
of their lives. But are they all telling the truth? It's only later
on, when the three separate, that more hints about these strangers
are revealed, mainly about the possibly cloned young woman. A film
that plays with subjects like cloning, social and political changes
in Russia, its countryside and its present-day citizens surviving
all in their own way. Can these worlds really coexist in contemporary
Russia?

Simon
(2004) Hij verandert je
leven (He changes your life)
Here is a movie that is moving and sad, although it comes in one
of the funniest packages I have seen. It tells the story of the
straight Simon (Cees Geel) and his gay-friend Camiel (Marcel Hensema).
The movie starts in 1988, Holland. Simon hits Camiel with his car
and drives him to a nearby hospital. After Camiel has revealed he
is gay Simon replies with 'better you then me,' and we know what
kind of guy Simon is. Although Simon is pretty hard on Camiel, especially
with his gay-comments, they become friends. Simon owns a hash bar
(in Holland we call it a coffee shop), has a girl named Sharon (Rifka
Lodeizen), and two kids (one girl, one boy) with an ex-wife in Thailand.
Once a year Simon and his friends all go to Thailand because Simon
has things to do there. Since Camiel is part of the group he joins
them. Events on the island make sure Camiel and Simon stop seeing
each other.

The
Benchwarmers
(2006)
Gus, Richie and Clark are three underdogs who spent a great deal
of time on the bench when they were kids. Now, they're getting a
second chance. Mel is a local billionaire whose son Nelson is always
being intimidated by the other kids. One day, Gus and Clark rescue
Nelson from a bunch of bullies on the baseball field. When Max tells
his father about the incident, Mel makes Gus, Clark and Richie a
tantalizing proposition: He will put up the money for them to travel
and play in a tournament against the young baseballers as a way
of helping his son and other nerds like him to exact revenge against
the bullies of this world. It will be called "Mel's Tournament
of Little Baseballers and Three Older Guys." The winner will
get the greatest stadium ever built--at Mel's expense. In order
to prepare Gus, Richie and Clark for the tournament, Mel hires baseball
legend Reggie Jackson to train them. Reggie works with them on timing
by having them sit in the back of a truck as it drives down the
street, swinging a bat and demolishing mailboxes. He also teaches
them fielding by tossing a hot potato at them, which they catch
barehanded and toss quickly to one another. Amazingly, the training
pays off and they become an inspiration to benchwarmers everywhere.

The
Fall of Fujimori (2006)
In a nation besieged by bloody insurgents and appalling poverty
appears a humble candidate who vows to fight for the poor and disenfranchised.
Riding a crest of popular support, this political unknown storms
into the elections and wins the Presidency. After being sworn in,
the new President declares an all out War on Terror, which soon
culminates in the capture of public enemy number one.

The
New World (2005)
In the early years of the 17th century, North America is much as
it has been for the previous five thousand years--a vast land of
seemingly endless primeval wilderness populated by an intricate
network of tribal cultures. Although these nations live in graceful
harmony with their environment, their relations with each other
are a bit more uneasy. All it will take to upset the balance is
an intrusion...

Why
We Fight
(2006)
Why We Fight' is an unflinching look at the military industrial
complex and the rise of the American Empire. Inspired by Dwight
Eisenhower's legendary farewell speech (in which he coined the phrase
"military industrial complex"), the film surveys the scorched
landscape of a half-century's military adventures, asking how --
and telling why -- a nation of, by, and for the people has become
the savings-and-loan...

the 1966 NCAA tournament title. Josh Lucas stars as Hall of Famer

that changed the history of basketball with his team's victory in
this time of innocence.

Henri
Cartier Bresson: The Impassioned Eye
(2006)
When Cartier-Bresson died last year, he was mourned as the "father
of photojournalism" and one of the greatest photographers ever.
He believed in seizing the decisive moment and editing in camera,
producing snapshots that were consistently stunning compositions.
This documentary focuses primarily on his work from the 1940s to
the 1960s, a period when he witnessed key international events like
the liberation of Paris and the death of Gandhi. It also spotlights
his revealing portraits of a wide range of icons and celebrities,
from Marilyn Monroe to Henri Matisse. Although Cartier-Bresson was
camera-shy himself, the film captures him leafing through his prints
as well as his collection of sketches and vivid and intimate portrait
illustrates why the peripatetic photographer was such a supremely
accomplished artist.

Hoodwinked
(2006)
"Hoodwinked" is an updated re-telling of the classic Little
Red Riding Hood fairy tale. The satire begins where the fable last
left off, as there's always more to every tale than meets the eye!
Furry and feathered cops from the animal world, Chief Grizzly and
Detective Bill Stork, investigate a domestic disturbance at Granny's
cottage, involving a girl, a wolf and an axe. The charges are many:
breaking and entering, disturbing the peace, intent to eat, and
wielding an axe without a license. Not to mention, this case might
be tied to the elusive "Goody Bandit" who has been stealing
the recipes of goody shops everywhere.

There, thinking she has nothing to lose, Georgia undergoes a metamorphosis
- and her transformation affects everyone around her. Georgia's
newly uninhibited personality shakes up staff and guests alike,
including a venerate chef as well as a retail magnate who becomes
convinced she's a rival intent on sabotaging his business plans.
From snowy slopes to spectacular spas, delectable dinners to midnight
balls, Georgia is going to live a lifetime of fun in just a few
weeks.

Liberty
Street: Alive at Ground Zero
(2006)
More than just another September 11 movie, the film is a haunting
record of the surreal world that existed in the aftermath of the
fall of the towers. Featuring stunning, shot-on-the-fly footage
of a downtown dystopia that has long since vanished from the public
consciousness, it is a portrait of a city under siege, and a record
of the people who struggled to restore their corner of the world
to order. It challenges more simplistic, mainstream views of Ground
Zero with vivid portraits of exceptional New Yorkers who made a
place for themselves in that tragic and transitory neighborhood.

That
Man: Peter Berlin
(2006)
With his trademark Dutchboy haircut, Tom of Finland physique, and
oh-so-tight trousers, Peter Berlin was the poster boy for the hedonistic
and sexually liberated 1970s. Director Jim Tushinski's fascinating,
sexy, and ultimately touching portrait, "That Man: Peter Berlin"
traces Berlin's story over the past 40 years, from his birth in
wartime Germany to his current life in San Francisco, turning the
elusive sex icon into a human being.

The
Keeper: The Legend of Omar Khayyam
(2006)
Paul Lamont is a 36-year-old Haitian-American corrections officer
at the Brooklyn King's County House of Detention. An aspiring law
student, Paul, who lives a culturally bankrupt existence--is a man
caught between two worlds. He sees the human side of the prisoners
he watches over, just as he sees the violent and brutal nature of
his fellow officers. The pressures of his job, including the threat
of violence, unwanted overtime, and peer pressure have taken a heavy
toll on his marriage to Angela, a middle school teacher who has
been his wife for five years. His marriage is already in trouble
when he bails Jean Baptiste, a mysterious Haitian, out of jail,
convinced that Baptiste has been wrongly accused of rape. Insinuating
himself into Lamont's life, Baptiste leads his benefactor on an
unimaginable journey of self-discovery as his presence forces Paul
to confront his misgivings about his own Hatian culture head-on.

(2006)
Two adventurous American college buddies, Paxton and Josh, backpack
through Europe eager to make quintessentially hazy travel memories
with new friend Oli, an Icelander they've met along the way. Paxton
and Josh are eventually lured by a fellow traveler to what's described
as a nirvana for American backpackers -- a particular hostel in
an out-of-the-way Slovakian town stocked with Eastern European women
as desperate as they are gorgeous. The two friends arrive and soon
easily pair off with exotic beauties Natalya and Svetlana. In fact,
too easily. Initially distracted by the good time they're having,
the two Americans quickly find themselves trapped in an increasingly
sinister situation that they will discover is as wide and as deep
as the darkest, sickest recess of human nature itself -- if they
survive.
